I have been revelling in electricity! heehee. I think the thing that I missed the most was having hot tea. I have tea all through the day and at first I thought...oh well, I'll just heat up some water in the microwave. Duh. And so on and so forth. But did enjoy listening to some podcasts and knitting.

I hear tell that the weather is actually supposed to cool down this week. I think that I'll believe it when I see it. I am ready to pull out some hand-knit cardigans and stop wearing sandals. At the end of each season I am more than ready for seasonal clothing switching.
Here are the socks for mom. The picture color didn't really come out anything like the true colors. It's KnitPicks Palette in "Salsa Heather" and the pattern is a mock cable which really shows up well with this yarn. I will have to see if I can get a better picture. Maybe outside.

Storm damage pictures are not so great but using a cell phone so here they are. Thank God we have power as there are still people without. What a mess. I can't believe that we had a hurricane in Ohio. Crazy.

Here are the socks that I knit at night by candlelight. Very pioneer of me, no? You can't really tell from the color but it is Candy Corn and the yarn is I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby. So soft and knits up fast.

Yah!! here I am. The internet/cable went on while I was on the phone with Time-Warner trying to find out when they were going to have us back up. Voila! they said they were working in our area and we ran to turn on the computer and the internet is soooooooooooo pretty. heehee.

Here is a not very good shot of why we didn't have electricity for 3 days. Our neighbor's trees are (well, were) so overgrown that they just blew down. You can't tell but the whole yard is covered and took down a phone/electric pole.

Still no broadband connection so no internet :( So sad. My neighbor's tree took down the telephone/electric pole and there are still wires hanging down. I suppose they are the cable wires and the company is giving no time estimate as to when it will be fixed. Hopefully I'll be back soon and will have some storm damage pictures to share so you can see.
On the upside, I did get a pair of worsted-weight socks knit when there was no electricity so at least something was accomplished!

Have electric now as of 7:04pm Tuesday evening but no broadband which means no internet. Have to use the one at the library so will be back soon. Hope everyone is okay!

No electricity for 24 hrs. Be back as soon as we have some.

Here is my latest sock. It's a sport-weight (I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby) done on size 3's in a twisted rib pattern....K2,yo,K2,K2tog. Repeat around. I think that this pattern looks really good with this yarn.

Here is the last hat that I made. It is the shark hat and the lovely Anna was gracious enough to model it for us. Looks like he is having a great snack!

This is the cafe at Barnes and Noble where we meet for "art" night. And they had some Harney teas for 50% off...sweet.
Finally, it is getting a little cooler here. Tonight it will be 51*. I want to lie out in the nice, cool grass. I am ready for fall. It will be nice to start wearing something other than shorts, especially some knitted things. Last night when I was driving home at 9:00 you could smell that decaying "fall" smell when I passed lots of trees, etc. Ahhhh! I am ready to wear lounging pajamas and curl up under a nice throw with a steaming cuppa.

New yarn stash! So soft and the colors are great. It's a sport-weight and is intended for ....you guessed it....socks. Ordered it from Herrschner's and it was a great sale. Yah for me. Not all of these are for me though. I will share. Although I'm looking for some interesting sport-weight patterns for socks.

Hip hip hooray! The hats are all finished. It's always fun to knit something until you have to do it. Then the pressure sets in and it is no longer quite as fun. Then the doubt sets in...am I going to be able to knit this pattern? Will the receipient like it? Will it fit? Do I have enough yarn? blah, blah, blah. But they are all packed up and I am pleased so that's that. And onto some socks. And a sock monkey hat for sis. This is the baby hat that I added an embroidered nose and whiskers after the picture. I was going to make it into a chicken hat complete with drumsticks but decided against it. This is much cuter.
I'm so excited! I just found the Red Dwarf dvd's at Columbia House and ordered series 1. Woohoo!! I can't wait for it to get here. They have the entire series, which is cool because I can't find them anywhere else. And I got it for 40% off as well. Sweet! www.reddwarf.co.uk.

So,so,so HOT! Ugh. Just gross and smoggy and humid and have not wanted to do anything except sit in front of the fan and well, just sit. At least it has cooled down into the mid-80's today and it is rumored that rain is on the way. But I'll believe it when I see rain.

Here is a shot of J's pretty sock that she worked on at Monday night art night. Love those jazz hands!
